The Importance of Cruelty-Free Skincare

Look at that face ^^^^. Why would anyone EVER want to do anything to harm that cute little bunny? But the unfortunate reality is that many cosmetic, beauty, skin care and hair care brands are doing just that.

So, why are thousands of animals senselessly harmed each year to further the cosmetics and beauty industries? According to GoCrueltyFree.org:

In cosmetics and household products research, painful experiments are carried out on hundreds of thousands of animals every year around the world, including dogs, rabbits, pigs, mice, rats, guinea-pigs, fish and birds. This includes tests for skin or eye irritation, skin sensitivity (allergy), toxicity (poisoning), mutagenicity (genetic damage), teratogencity (birth defects), carcinogenicity (causing cancer), embryonic or fetal genetic damage and toxicokinetics (to study the absorption, metabolism, distribution and excretion of the substance).

However, it is possible to create amazing, effective products without testing on any animals. We should know; our products and ingredients are entirely cruelty-free. It’s our commitment to you!

And thank goodness the rest of the world is getting on board! In February 2003, the EU agreed to a Europe-wide ban on cosmetics animal testing. The first stage of the ban came into effect in 2009 and the last stage (sale and marketing ban of new animal tested cosmetics) came into effect in March 2013. And Korea recently announced they will be ending all testing of ingredients and products on animals by 2017.

However there are no restrictions on animal testing for cosmetics in many parts of the world such as the USA and Asia. Can you believe it?! According to Cruelty Free International:

Animal testing for cosmetics still happens. Over 80% of the world allows animals to be used in cruel and unnecessary cosmetics tests and these animal tested cosmetics can be purchased in every country across the globe.

By committing to purchasing only cruelty-free products, you can help save the lives and wellbeing of mice, guinea pigs, dogs and the ever-adorable bunny! So, join with us to declare that you will not stand for cosmetics and beauty brands in the US testing on animals! Animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats are routinely injected, gassed, force-fed and killed for cosmetics testing worldwide.
