How To Quit the “You Look Tired” Quote
You get eight hours of sleep. You feel energetic and rested. But when you get to work, your co-workers comment, “You look tired.” Sound familiar? These three words can spark offense in even the calmest people. Why do we appear tired when we actually feel well rested? Is this a function of history, anatomy, or just plain not getting enough sleep? How can we reverse the dreaded look of “being tired”? Grab a cup of coffee and read on.
The Main Culprit
The primary source of that “tired” appearance is dark under-eye circles. And you can thank your family for those, since the main cause is hereditary. Dark circles are most common for people who have olive or darker complexions. In these cases, they are caused by an overabundance of melanin (the pigment that gives skin its color under the skin of the under-eye area, making the skin there appear darker than it is.
Another source of a fatigued look is “hollowed skin,” caused by thinning skin under the eyes and poor blood circulation. As you age, your skin thins and your circulation decreases. Because the skin under your eyes is naturally thin, blood that pools beneath the surface becomes more obvious with age. With this, eyes lose their natural plumpness and volume, creating what is referred to as “hollowness” or “hollowed skin.” This effect, combined hyperpigmentation dramatically increases the appearance of dark circles.
Other causes of dark circles and hollowness include allergies and eating habits. If you rub your eyes a lot from allergy symptoms, the skin under your eyes can actually start to appear darker. And poor nutrition and crash dieting can contribute to hollowness, as rapid fluctuations in your weight can cause you to lose volume in your face.
Can I Prevent The Tired Look Before It Happens?
In some cases yes! The first line of prevention is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Don’t smoke. Protect your skin from the sun by wearing sunscreen, sunglasses and hats. Eat a healthy, plant-based diet, take a multivitamin and avoid refined sugar. All this will help to increase healthy cell production, in turn giving you stronger, healthier skin. We get that no one is perfect; but just follow the 80/20 rule: eat 80% good foods 80% of the time.
What If I’m Already Starting To Look Tired? What Can I Do?
The good news here is that there are treatment options available for you. However, because the skin under the eye area is thin and sensitive, topical skincare formulations have not always been very effective in treating under-eye circles and hollowness…until now. New stem cell technology has recently been introduced into skincare that has produced a significant reduction in the appearance of dark circles, bags and eye puffiness after just 3 weeks.*
You can find this technology in our Cell Revive Eye Serum Complete. Eye Serum Complete uses a dual-approach that’s a critical part of our Stem Core-3 technology. You’ll see and feel results in just minutes, as the skin on your upper and lower lids tighten. In that same first few minutes fine lines and wrinkles look softer, smoother and less defined. Over time, this remarkable serum reduces the appearance of bags, dark circles and puffiness within 3 weeks while ensuring that the sensitive orbital eye area receives special emollients and moisture protection it needs to be healthy.
It is often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. And you don’t want your soul to appear tired and stressed out! So start taking action now through living a healthy lifestyle and using clinically-proven topical skincare products to reduce dark circles and eliminate hollowed skin.
