The Glamorganic Goddess: Not Your Typical Tree-Hugger
This month we’re thinking about the Earth (Earth Day), renewal (Spring), getting healthy (summer’s right around the corner!) and the one’s we love (teachers, mothers, girlfriends). So, who better to feature than the sassy, young Breast Cancer Survivor Danielle Messina, better known as The Glamorganic Goddess?!
Danielle was diagnosed with both aggressive and non-aggressive Stage II breast cancer in 2009, at the ripe young age of 31. With no history in her family, cause or cure, she underwent two surgeries and 33 radiation treatments with conventional cancer management. But after learning that her next treatment round of chemotherapy and Tamoxifen had potential side effects including other forms of cancer, she opted for a natural approach to healing, with an integrative path to prevention.
As a former professional figure skater that has been beautifying since the age of four, her cancer diagnosis forced her to examine her lifestyle choices, including her beauty products, in a different way. Determined to create purpose out of her painful cancer journey, Danielle began to document her quest to find clean beauty products – without carcinogens, and without sacrificing her standards – on her blog, The Glamorganic Goddess.
Today, Danielle is dedicating her life to educating others about the importance of cancer prevention through healthy lifestyle choices. She has become a sought-after advocate of healthy beauty and consults with many beauty companies to help them produce healthier, better beauty products. She also works with cancer patients, survivors and organizations to help them make more informed decisions when it comes to shopping for beauty products.
Danielle, we commend your bravery, courage and ability to create so much good in the world through adversity. Thank you for inspiring us to make healthy, effective beauty products!
